Fall Leaves Alphabet Puzzles

August 16, 2018 by Kelly Smith

These alphabet puzzles are perfect to use throughout the season of Fall! Students will love getting to look at the cute pictures on the leaves, and match them to the correct alphabet tree. Check out more fun FALL CENTERS here. Keep reading to grab your freebie!

LET’S PREP!

To prep this game for my students, I printed all of the pieces on cardstock and laminated for durability. Then I cut out the puzzles. I separated the tree from the leaves. You have two options when prepping this puzzle to differentiate for students.

You can choose to keep the puzzle piece with two leaves together so that each complete puzzle is only 2 pieces. All students have to do here is match the pair of two leaves (still attached) to the correct tree.

Or, you can cut the leaves apart on the line so that each complete puzzle is 3 pieces. This option makes the puzzles a little more challenging for students. They have to match 2 separate leaves to each letter tree.

LET’S PLAY!

To play this game, I separated the cards into two piles: letter trees, and leaves. Students started, by picking a tree with a letter on it.

When I have my students play this game independently, I encourage them to line up and sort ALL of the letter trees into a long line that is in ABC order. I want them to work as a team to do this first before they start matching the leaves to each tree. 🙂

Next, the student matches the correct leaves with beginning sound pictures to the tree:

Students are finished when all of the trees have leaves that are matched to them.

My students LOVE playing this game, and it’s perfect to use either at your teacher table or as an independent centers activity. Some of my students still need help with letter matching, so I like to use these fun ABC Apple puzzles from my Fall Centers Pack to give them extra practice.Another one of our favorite games this time of year is our pumpkin number puzzles!! These fun themed puzzles make counting so much fun!
